Immersive AR Art - 'Urban Decay' by Voidz

Toronto, June 24, 2023 - The Trace team is delighted to announce a groundbreaking collaboration with the renowned digital artist Voidz and Qualcomm AR headsets at the IDFK Gallery in Toronto. Together, the teams are pushing the boundaries of digital art by bringing Voidz iconic VFX work into physical institutions and immersive AR for the very first time. The exhibition ‘Urban Decay’ explores the ever-changing nature of the city as it is continuously built up and simultaneously deconstructed. The augmented reality installation is tied directly to the gallery and visitors can interact with the immersive art through projection, phones, ipads and even AR headsets.
Voidz is known for his surrealist digital videos and his collaborations with Drake around Toronto. In this first foray into immersive, gallery-based art, he has filled the physical space with concrete, brick and debris to choreograph a mesmerizing and world-bending experience. The debris swirls around the space to subvert the viewer’s sense of materiality and blend the digital and the real.
The Trace platform serves as the conduit for Voidz's artistic vision, empowering creators to deploy augmented reality experiences in real-world locations and on various products. Compatible with all types of AR devices and formats, Trace makes it simple to bring immersive experiences ‘Urban Decay’ to life.
"We’re thrilled to collaborate with Voidz, IDFK and Qualcomm on this ground-breaking installation," expressed Greg Tran, co-founder at Trace. "Our partnership represents an exciting convergence of art and technology, enabling artists to bring their digital creations into physical institutions. It's a revolutionary step forward in art curation and audience engagement."
Please join us at the IDFK Gallery in Toronto until July 8 and experience the immersive installation and a new era in artistic expression.
